Meet The Founder
Meet Megan Holmes
Megan Holmes is the founder and lead teacher of Good Soil Nature School.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Over her 11-year teaching career, she has taught students from Pre-K through 3rd grade and has also led and facilitated teacher training courses, helping other educators grow in their craft.
As an educator, wife, homeschool mom, and lifelong learner, Megan believes that life itself provides countless opportunities for children to learn; we simply need to be intentional in recognizing and cultivating them. She believes learning is a privilege and true joy. Her desire is for children to view it the same way.
Inspired by forest schools, Charlotte Mason philosophy, project-based learning, and a deep relationship with the Creator, Megan is passionate about helping children develop a love of learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Her desire is to create an environment where children can explore God's creation, follow their curiosity, build confidence, and discover that learning extends far beyond the walls of a traditional classroom.
Where We Gather
A simple outdoor setting with room to wonder.
Good Soil meets at our simple ranch home on one tree-filled acre in Spring Hill, with a creek and public park adjacent to the property. There is no indoor classroom; students learn outdoors among big shade trees, in a 1,500 square foot vegetable garden, and under a covered outdoor area on heavy rain days. Students will use the bathroom inside our home when needed.
